Chicago Saxophone Day

CHICAGO SAXOPHONE DAY is an annual day long event co-sponsored by the Chicago College of Performing Arts (CCPA) and Northwestern University. CSD features clinics, master classes, and performances for classical and jazz saxophonists. The event is co-hosted by J. Michael Weiss-Holmes and Taimur Sullivan and CSD 2020 welcomed special guests John Sampen and Marilyn Shrude. Past guests and clinicians have included Fred Hemke, Kenneth Tse, Thomas Snydacker, Jim Gailloreto, and Matthew Beck.

virtual Chicago Saxophone institute

CHICAGO SAXOPHONE INSTITUTE is an annual week long event at Roosevelt University’s Chicago College of Performing Arts and is hosted by Dr. J. Michael Weiss Holmes. The institute features world renowned musicians and clinicians like Jeff Coffin (Dave Matthew’s Band), Debra Richtmeyer (University of Illinois), Derek Brown (BEATBox Sax), Kristen McKeon (D’Addario), and more! The institute began as an in person event at Roosevelt University in 2018 and was held virtually in 2020. 2021’s institute will continue to be held virtually featuring Carrie Koffman, Timothy McAllister, Robert Young, Sal Lozano, and many more!
